When you prefer real books, you will undoubtedly value unique bookmarks

This blog is for those who appreciate the genuine pleasures of both of those— real books and impressive bookmarks.

Why do we need bookmarks?

Bookmarks are every reader’s trusty friend, placed over and over again inside the pages of several books.  Along with being useful, they can also be pretty, fun, and engaging – essentially, the designs inspire readers to want to use them.

Bookmarks, a brief history

Bookmarks first emerged along with the production of the very first handwritten books, sometime in the fourth century BC, and were likely used in the early codices as well. They appeared in Europe, Asia and Africa, and were mostly stiff (made from wood, bone or metal), as at that time books were rare and precious possessions that not everyone owned.

It was in the middle ages that the foundations for the bookmark as we know it today were laid. With the application of a string, pieces of leather and fabrics, succeeded by the very first paper or delicate wooden bookmarks. Ultimately the development of numerous stylish and ingenious solutions we use today, including rotating bookmarks.

In the nineteenth century, bookmarks emerged as a commonly circulated object. They were printed on thick paper, usually with a hole and a small string tied to it.

Choosing a Bookmark for Yourself

What do you use to keep track of the book you’re reading? Ribbons? Receipts? A piece of paper? But ribbons get tangled or become loose, receipts and paper suddenly flutter away.

Which is why it is probably wise to invest in an actual bookmark, rather than keep losing your receipts and ruining your ribbons along with the joy of reading! There are several types of bookmarks available in gift shops and online stores. No matter what genre you are reading, you’ll find at least a few designs to accompany your books. If you love quirky artworks or find some quotes inspiring, there are a ton of graphic bookmark designs available online.

But did you know? Crafting metal into stylish bookmarks is fast becoming a new trend among users. The metal bookmark designs are eye-catching, unique, and will last longer tucked away in your books.

The perfect bookmark for the perfect reading experience!

Bookmarks are tools with tremendous scope to play around with, using designs and illustrations. Whether you use them for yourself or as gifts for your friends and family, the important thing is to choose an option that lasts and makes an immediate impression.

Whether the design is artsy, humourous, spiritual, or bizarre, bookmarks have the ability to make reading experiences even more fun for everyone!
